Will Logos Work on Windows 10?

Windows 10 has been in the news a lot lately. Microsoft’s move to offer a free upgrade to many of its customers has certainly garnered some attention! If you’re like many Windows users, you might wonder whether you should upgrade. And if you’re a Logos user, a couple of other questions may come to mind.

Will Logos work on Windows 10?

Has anyone tested Logos on Windows 10?

We set out to answer those concerns as soon as we were able to get our hands on the public beta of Windows 10. The answer to both questions is an emphatic “YES!”

We’ve had several people using Windows 10 since very early in the public beta program and have found no issues that impact normal daily use of Logos. We came across a few very minor issues related to Windows 10 and have already fixed many of those in Logos 6.4.

Should you upgrade? That’s a question only you can really answer. But as a Logos user, if you want to upgrade to Windows 10 you have nothing to worry about. If you want to take advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 10, don’t let any concerns about Logos hold you back.

If you’ve not yet upgraded to Logos 6, upgrade now to get the most out of your software in Windows 10.

  • i have been using it with Win10 for at least six months, with no glitches. the only thing that is needed is for Logos to be more tablet/touch-friendly, but that goes right back to Win8.0.

  • I have installed Windows 10 on two computers that were running Windows 8.1. Both are running Logos 6.3 with no apparent issues. I loaded two layouts with multiple panels and they worked without any glitches or hiccups. FWIW

  • My experience on Windows 10 is:
Flawless, seamless, and loads much faster than it did on Windows 7 or Windows 8. Absolutely no conflicts seen.

  • Running W10 and everything has been fine. I just ran into the first problem experienced with it. Trying to watch videos from my home page, but the won't load and play!!! Keeps showing "Loading…" in upper left corner, yet nothing happens!?! Tried videos from Youtube, but they load right up and play fine?!?

  • I've been running Logos 6 on very early Threshold (what we call Windows 10 internally) alpha builds long before it was even available to the Windows Insiders beta adoptors without any issues at all. I've ran it on Windows tablets, laptops and desktops. I've done clean installs and upgrades without a hitch. Upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 even retained my local preferences.

  • I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 yesterday. Since the upgrade, every time I open Logos 6 it crashes. I uninstalled and reinstalled Logos 6 and still it doesn’t open at all. It was running fine on my Windows 8.1.

      • Thanks for the reply

I figured out that it was a lavasoft dll file causing the problem. I uninstalled the Web Companion from Lavasoft and it works fine now.

      • Hi Tyler,

Will downloading the core engine give me the same type of access I have in Logos 5?

        • Bernard,

It should! The only problem running Logos 6 on Windows 10 occurs when attempting to print. We’re actively working on a solution.

Let me know if you need anything else.

          • Tyler,

Thanks for the advice! Downloading the core engine allowed to get Logos up and running!

          • I have a problem with printing to a pdf printer from logos 6 in windows 10.
It does not work, logos stops running and nothing happens.

  • Hi,

Has anyone been able to get Logos 5 to run in Windows 10? I can install it but it doesn’t run. It just shows the Logos Splash Screen and that’s it.

  • I use Logos 6 on Windows 10 and I have come across one problem. I am not able to print to my printer within Logos when printing scripture from the Print/Export window. I know it is not a problem with my printer driver, as I have updated my driver for Windows 10 and I am able to print just fine from my other applications. Any ideas what may be the problem?

  • Additional information: when I view the printer queue window, it has the document status set to Spooling, and it never switches status to Printing.

    • Hi, Ron.

I just got word that we discovered this issue over the weekend. We don’t have a solution yet, but we’re actively working on it. Thanks for your patience, and sorry for any frustration.

  • After my upgrade my Logos no longer runs. The shortcut is there, but when clicked tells me that I don't have permissions to access the files. I have seen this on a couple of other programs. As soon as you go into the directory it upgrades your permissions and the programs run fine after that. Haven't been able to do this workaround for Logos though. Fresh install tells me I'm up to date. I suppose I'll have to uninstall and start over. Thanks Bill.

    • Hi, Doug.

Sorry you’re having trouble. Shoot me an email (tyler.smith@faithlife.com) and I’ll hook you up with someone from Customer Service. We’ll take care of you.

  • I have a Surface 3 with Logos 5 and Windows 10. I have had no problem with Logos running under Windows 10 environment. I mainly use the Surface 3 as a table and I enjoy reading my books. Logos 5 runs decently which pleases me.

  • It works… but any time I try to copy something it laggs and if it try a visual copy it freezes up. I called and Visual Copy is not yet working but they are working on it.

  • I upgraded to windows 10 and my logos bible software has stopped working. Everytime I open it, I get a dialog window saying, "Logos has stopped working." Help?

  • I have surface pro 3 i5. and logos 6. does anyone have this same system and upgraded to windows 10. does it work and any problems? thanks.

  • I’m using Logos 4. It was okay with windows 8. However, logos 4 dose not work on Windows 10 at all. Even, it’s not able to install logos 4 into windows 10.

    I have two questions:
    1. Can I install logos 4 on my windows 10 laptop?
    2. If 1. Is not possible, do you have any plan to update logos4 to make it works on windows 10?

  • had logos software on win7 and worked then got new computer with win10 and computer friend tried to load it and it would not work – bummer as i used the software for my precept bible class
