The Email That Changed This Man’s Bible Study

One of the best parts of working in social media is being a direct line of contact for Logos users to share their stories. Sometimes those stories describe how Logos has transformed their study of the Word, sometimes they share how Logos has helped them spread the Gospel, and sometimes they share stories of generosity.

Pastor Tony Walker had been curious about Logos for a while, so he posted a Facebook status asking friends if it was worth the investment. Along with receiving a unanimous “yes,” he also got a phone call. It was from a family member asking Walker about his interest in Logos, along with which authors he enjoyed reading the most. Walker told them that he thought it would be helpful in his role as a youth pastor, as well as in preparation for an upcoming revival where he would be preaching.

An hour after that phone call, Walker received an email informing him that a Baptist base package was purchased for him by his family member, along with The Select Works of Jonathan Edwards (one of his favorite authors).

Walker posted on Facebook:

There have been several times in my life where there was something I either needed or wanted when God used someone else to do what I was unable to do. Often I have used those times as illustrations of God’s provision for someone who is unable, yet also unworthy. Things like this are an example of true Christian charity, giving to someone who you know will more than likely never be able to return the favor.

Walker shared this story with us via Facebook, so we followed up with him to get the scoop on his Logos experience.

What has impressed you most about Logos?

“The value of it. The amount of resources I receive for the price is drastically lower than what I’d pay for those books at a bookstore. Also the iPad and iPhone apps are great—being able to carry my entire library around with me is extremely helpful.”

What do you use Logos for the most?

“I’m the youth pastor at my church, and I teach an adult Sunday school class. Logos has been a great assistant when it comes to preparing lessons for both of those roles.”

Which Logos tools have been helpful?

“I’ve dabbled with the Timeline feature and I’m excited to dive into it further. My wife and I teach a kids’ class once a month, so we’ve been creating word searches in Logos. They’re easy to make, and it’s nice to have the puzzles directly complement the lesson.”

What are your plans for the revival?

“Each night I plan to teach on an aspect of God’s love. The first night will focus on 1 John 4:8—so a broad scope of God’s love—and then become more specific each following night. Logos has already been very useful with preparation for the revival.”
