How to Quickly See Tags in a Biblical Passage

A Logos user recently contacted me with the following scenario:

I know the Logos developers have tagged the biblical text with all sorts of labels or datasets. Normally I right click on words and scroll through the menu to see these tags. Is there, however, an easier way to view tags just while I’m reading the text?

Another excellent question from a Logos practitioner and it reminds me of what I often say: In Logos, there are 6 ways to do most everything!

So to his point, let me show you a simple way to see all the “tags” assigned to a word in a biblical passage:

  • Open an English Bible with the interlinear option such as the NASB (A)
  • Navigate to a passage such as Mark 5:9 (B)

  • Choose Tools | Information
  • Choose the panel menu on the Information panel (C)
  • Select Click on the Update on line (D)

  • Click the word name in Mark 5:9 (E)
  • Navigate to the Other References section in the Information panel (F)
  • Scroll through the section noticing the various “tags” such as:
    • Cultural Concept (G)
    • Biblical Event (H)
    • Speakers (I)
    • Addressees (J)

  • Rest the cursor on the Other References title bar (K) and select Settings (L) to designate which tags appear in this section (M)

As you can easily see, there’s a wealth of instant data available in the Information panel just by clicking (or hovering on) a word in the biblical text!

Then, by using the hyperlinks in the Other References section, you can easily open the Factbook or other resources to drill down deeper on a topic.
