Is Learning Greek Easier Than You Think? Find Out.

Most of us cannot read or recognize this Bible passage in its original language:

Οὕτως γὰρ ἠγάπησεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν κόσμον, ὥστε τὸν υἱὸν τὸν μονογενῆ ἔδωκεν, ἵνα πᾶς ὁ πιστεύων εἰς αὐτὸν μὴ ἀπόληται ἀλλ᾽ ἔχῃ ζωὴν αἰώνιον.

But that could all change in a weekend with the Interactive Greek Alphabet Course from Logos Mobile Education.

The course instructor, Dr. John Schwandt, knows what it’s like to struggle with language learning. He also knows why it’s worth the sweat.

As a new Christian, he found that Bible commentaries were “way over my head,” and he had no idea what to do with the odd Greek words and letters he encountered there. Something was missing in his studies.

But with the help of tutors (he was not “a natural,” in his own words) he pushed through to learn the basics. Eventually, he was teaching Greek in colleges and seminary.

Now Dr. Schwandt shares his excitement for learning Greek with students through a one-hour video course. It’s intended for all levels—even for those who don’t think they can learn a new language. Dr. Schwandt says that by the end of this course students, will recognize Greek letters, know their pronunciation, and interact with Greek words in commentaries. They’ll even be on their way to reading words and entire passages, such as John 3:16. (That well-known passage in Greek at the top of this post begins, “For God so loved the world…”)
