How to Use the Double and Triple-Click Shortcut Action

The recently released Logos 8.6 contains some exciting new time-saving shortcuts: double and triple shortcut click action. For years we’ve been able to double click a word in a resource to execute a Look Up Search, but in 8.6, the double click options have expanded and triple click has been added!

Give this a go:

  • Choose Tools | Utilities | Program Settings
  • Scroll to the Text Display section (A)
  • Notice these new lines:
    • Double-Click Action (B)
    • Triple-Click Action (C)
    • Prefer Lemmas (D)

As you’ll see in the drop-down lists, (E) double- or triple-clicking a word in a Bible or book (resource) allows you to execute your designated action from these options:

  • Look up will jump to an article about your word from the highest prioritized resource containing the article.
  • Search will open the Bible or Basic Search panel and automatically generate results for your word.
  • Search inline will automatically execute an Inline Search in the current Bible or book for your word.
  • Select word will simply select the word on which you double-clicked.
  • Select paragraph will select the entire paragraph containing the word on which you triple-clicked.

I encourage you to leave Prefer Lemmas set to Yes. (F) Now when you double- or triple-click a word in an interlinear Bible (ESVNKJVKJV,  LEB, etc.), Logos executes your desired action on the underlying Hebrew/Greek word, not the English word!

Obviously you want to select different options for double- and triple- clicking to expand your timesaving power while you’re working in your Bibles and books.
