How to Use the Bible Browser to Locate Preaching Theme Passages

Woman doing a Bible Word Study

The makers of our Logos Bible Software have identified 230 popular preaching themes, such as Atonement and Baptism—and 228 more! Then they labeled passages in the Bible pertaining to each theme so we could easily access them with the Sermon Starter Guide.

Did you know, however, you can also quickly access preaching theme passages with the Bible Browser?

For example, let’s say we want to locate verses pertaining to the theme of greed.

Give this a go:

  • Choose Tools | Reference | Bible Browser (A)

using the bible browser in logos

  • Type greed in the Find box at the top of the sidebar (B)
  • Click the Greed facet in the Preaching Themes section in the sidebar (C)

using the bible browser in logos

  • Notice on the right the passages a team at Faithlife has specifically mapped to the Preaching Theme greed (D)

The Sermon Starter Guide provides a lot of information about each of the 230 Preaching Themes, but if you just need verses, check out the Bible Browser.

For a more thorough examination of Preaching Themes and the Sermon Starter Guide, please join me for a FREE 45-minute training webinar called the Sermon Starter Guide: It’s Not Just for Preachers.

It will broadcast on April 27 at 2:00 p.m. (CT), but if you can’t make the original timeslot, please register anyway, and you’ll receive instructions on how to watch at your convenience.
