How to Save a List of Favorite Bibles for the Text Comparison Tool

One of my favorite features for the observation phase of Bible study is Text Comparison. In the recent 7.3 update to Logos Bible Software, changes were made on how we select Bibles for this tool. Below are the simple steps for creating a saved Bible list which can easily be recalled for future use.

To initially create the list:

  • Choose Tools | Text Comparison
  • Click the Bible drop down list (A)

1

  • Type in the Find box the first Bible you want in the list such as NASB (B)
  • Check the NASB box (C)

2

  • Type in the Find box the second Bible you want in the list such as ESV (D)
  • Check the ESV box (E)

3

  • Repeat the previous two steps for additional Bibles (F)

4

  • Click Save in the upper right of the drop down list (G)

5

  • Type a name for the list in the Resource list name box such as My Bibles (H)
  • Click Save (I)

6

  • Create as many lists as you desire
  • Click outside the drop down list to close it and load that list (J)

7-1

To reload the list:

  • Click the Bible drop down list (K)
  • Make sure the Find box is empty (L)
  • Select a list in the Saved section (M)

8-1

Please remember, the first Bible in any list serves as the base version against which the others in the list are compared.

  1. Can this be done on Logos 6

    • Tyler Smith says:

      Hi, Tom.

Not at this time. We will eventually release the equivalent of the “Logos 6 Free Core Engine” for Logos 7. Once you have that, you’ll be able to get updates like this for free. Stay tuned for details.

  2. I am able to do this just fine. However, whenever I hit the F7 shortcut it always goes to some pre-loaded default of a Bible selections that I don’t want. How do I change the set used for the F7 function key? Thanks.

    • Hi, Billy,
F7 loads your “Top Bibles,” which you can define by prioritizing them in the Library. This video has more info: https://www.logos.com/training/logos6/library-4

      • I thought that might be the problem too. So, I checked that as well…I just had a thought and it was correct. I only had 3 Bibles in my prioritized list. It was filling in the additional translation. I added two more and it is fixed. Thanks for your help. Is “The Message” not considered a Bible translation in LOGOS? It isn’t being included for comparison.
