Prepare High-Quality Sermons, Fast

save time on sermon prep
Pastors have an incredible number of job duties to perform. It’s amazing they find the time to juggle ministering to their congregation, meetings with staff and administrative work, and sermon prep every single week. Thom Rainer of LifeWay recently completed a large poll of pastors in the U.S. regarding sermon-prep time, a responsibility that is often invisible to typical church members. According to his results, the median sermon-prep time is 13 hours per week!

We created the Pastorum Series to provide pastors and other ministry leaders with practical resources that help them cut back on sermon-prep time without sacrificing quality. This 12-volume collection is 25% off during the Lexham Press Summer Sale!

Officials Being Sworn in on Tablets

Romans 10:17; 2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:12

Preaching Themes: Scripture

When the newest ambassador to Switzerland was sworn into office, she did not place her hand on a Bible. Instead, Suzi Levine placed her hand on an open Bible app on her Kindle when accepting the oath of office. Levine is part of new trend of officials being sworn in using apps on electronic devices rather than an actual paper Bible. While some support the use of the new technology, others say they are concerned that print version of the Bible was not used. The main issue is that the Bible may be one of many programs on the portable device. Levine said she used the Kindle because it was what she had at the time, and she thought it was a symbol of the very best of her nation.

Walter Kim, an associate minister at Park Street Church in Boston, said, “I don’t think it’s sacrilegious. In fact, during our own worship service it’s a regular experience that people are pulling out their iPads and iPhones, looking up the passages that are being read or preached from the pulpit. We recognize that the most important thing is that people are engaged with the Bible. In whatever form it comes, whether it’s electronic or print.”
