Crossgrading gives you Logos 6’s tools and capabilities without a whole new library. If you just want to study with Logos 6’s powerful functionality, a crossgrade is perfect for you. You can choose from three different crossgrade options:

I am a lecturer and Missions Coordinator at Africa School of Missions in South Africa. My mother bought me the Scholarly Library Edition many years ago to help with my studies at seminary. She had to make a bank lone because the software was so expensive.
I currently use version 5.2b SR-8. on my Macbook.
I tried to find out how I could avail of the new Logos 6 engine, keeping my current library (more than 700 volumes) and found out that the cheapest would be to go “Crossgrade” for nearly 400 US Dollars.
I would love the new Logos 6 features but I have to say that Logos has become an unaffordable option for people who are not riding on the strength of the US dollar.
I can understand people need to make a living but I feel totally exploited. To be a Christian who wants to learn has become a luxury that is now relegated to the few “have’s”. I wonder what Jesus would have to say if He sees what has happened to “His Message”? It is no longer to see people gain a living relationship with Jesus and to be discipled in His image but has become a huge money making business where those who simply cannot afford it loses out. Matthew 21 comes to mind as Jesus drove those out of the temple when that which was sacred was done purely for profit.
I still enjoy my Logos package but have to admit somewhere down the line “profit” seems to have become a large motivator instead of it being a tool to truly have a better understanding of the bible.

you may be better off just doing upgrade these crossgrades are expenses on purpose. I agree with you they should get some money for the new platform but not these outrages prices. the platform use to be free.

When I was younger I felt the same way. It was difficult to find my place in the world while a recession was going on. I could not afford seminary so I went to a non accredited discipleship training school. When I graduated, my studies were not recognized and thus service was limited.
The laborer is worthy of his hire A lot of work has gone into this product, and those who worked on it deserve to be compensated for their time. I have always felt called to the ministry, but the funds were never there for me to go. But I have been able to buy a few books every year and continued my education that way. Also working in the secular market I have been able to reach many who have never darkened the doors of a church.

I am now 60 years old and one thing I have learned is God ALWAYS provides what you need to carry out your marching orders. Bloom where you are planted brother, with the resources He has blessed you with. And be thankful. I always wanted what people like you have, and as a result missed much of what God was teaching me in the present.

Sometimes it is all about perspective. May God continue to bless you in your labors.

    • Thanks for posting this! I feel the same way. My current library is fine but the web standard is giving away the engine for free and charging for the content. I hope they go this route in the future. For now, I’ll just plug away one book at a time with my logos 4 package…
