New Christian eBook Store to Launch Up to 25,000 Books in 2011

What Is Vyrso?

Within the publishing world, books can generally be divided into one of two categories: reference books and trade books. Reference books include things like commentaries, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and other academic works. You can put almost everything else—novels, popular non-fiction, and children’s books—into the trade book category.

For nearly twenty years—long before the ebook boom—Logos has been bringing you the best in electronic reference books. With Vyrso, Logos is bringing that experience and expertise to trade books.

Vyrso helps you find, buy, and read your favorite Christian books. The Vyrso store will offer your favorite bestselling and classic Christian books, and you can use the Vyrso reader on iPad, iPhone, and (soon!) Android devices.

(Vyrso titles also work in Logos Bible Software 4, and you’ll be able to read all your Logos 4 titles in the Vyrso reader, too!)

To get a picture of what’s to come, check out these 25 bestsellers and start reading them with the Vyrso app today. For a limited time, all ebooks are at least 50% percent off!

Look for up to 25,000 books available by the end of 2011.

  1. I would buy the works of Jonathan Edwards; repentance by Roberts; heaven by acorn; works by boenhoeffer; ryrie; mcdonald; Benjamin warfield; ravi; theological; practical; devotional; and evangelism; discipleship; historical

  2. Too bad this app doesn’t have a feature to allow highlighting (just like the other Logos app). I don’t understand why it is taking Logos so long to create an app with a highlight feature, even though they have said at least a year ago that they were working on it.

Kindle app has highlighting. Nook app has highlighting. Surely it’s not that hard to implement it.

  3. Michael Chambers says

I do not own, nor do I intend to buy an i-phone or an i-pad; also I do not want to open a facebook account. So obviously I have no use for a Vyrso reader. However, does the statement “Vyrso titles also work in Logos Bible Software 4” mean that I can purchase any of these ebooks and add them to my Logos 4 library?

    • Jayson Bradley says

That is correct. You will be able to integrate Vyrso books with your Logos 4 resources.

  4. Jim Holsinger says

Do I understand correctly that with Vyrso (I like the name!) I will be able to read all of my Logos books? If so, will the Vyrso app work on Kindle or Nook? I have been waiting to buy an electronic reader until I could read all my Logos books on it. Jim

    • Jayson Bradley says

That is correct Jim, every Logos title available to be read on a mobile device will be available in Vyrso.

  5. Charles Williams says

The app offers books that you can’t get on your logos today. Lots of non-academic works. I like the idea but I have a kindel and can highlight. Also the books that I checked on vyrso were not close to the amazon price. With a little work and better prices and bigger selection I can see this being a great product. I’m looking forward to future releases and better prices.

  6. The new app looks great, but I can’t really see myself using it without the ability to highlight or write notes. These seem like pretty fundamental features for an e-reader platform. But I do love the idea here. It would be great to be able to read my extensive logos library on my iPad and highlight and mark the books up and have those notes transfer over to my PC.

  7. I don’t understand how this app is different from the logos app

    Good Questions Have Groups Talking

    • Jayson Bradley says

Great question! The Logos app is for in-depth analysis and Bible study, the Vyrso app is a lightweight reader. We have simplified the design so you can better focus on what you are reading. The big difference between the two apps has more to do with the intent and desire of the user.

  8. Pete Burrill says

I have to admit that these contests are kind of a bummer since they are only for US residents. What about the rest of Logos users?

    • Jayson Bradley says

That is a great question. We love our international users and would love to be able to open up our giveaways to everyone. Unfortunately, every country has specific and sometimes stringent rules that govern how giveaways are to be handled. For reasons of legal liability we have had to make the difficult decision to limit our winners to the U.S. and most of Canada (see official rules).

      • Pete Burrill says

Actually, I was told before that it is only legal US and residents and not Canadian citizens. Only US citizens residing in the 50 states or Canada. Is this still true?

        • Jayson Bradley says

I pulled this out of the official rules for the giveaway:

The Vyrso Prelaunch Giveaway is open only to legal U.S. residents residing in the 50 United States and Canada, excluding Quebec. The winner must be 18 years old or older on May 1, 2010. The following persons are not eligible to enter or win: employees of Logos Bible Software and affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and their immediate families (spouse, parents, siblings, and children).

  9. Marvita Franklin says

A few of my favorites are

Hinds Feet on High Places, Hannah Hurnard
The Making of a Leader, J. Robert Clinton
    Mere Christianity, C.S. Lewis
    Lord Foulgrin’s Letters, Randy Alcorn

It will be nice to have this available!

  10. You really should do a “word study” on the word “soon”. You have been saying Logos will come for Android for a long time now.

    • Jayson Bradley says

Touche Christian! If you check out the Android page, you will see that we are in Alpha 4 with the app. It is on its way!

  11. I like the concept, but why would I download an app that allows me to buy books at higher prices than Amazon? I just checked a couple of titles and they are significantly higher with vyrso.

  12. Tayo Fadeji says

I don’t know that I have a “favorite” Christian book, but some of the ones I’ve read recently or currently reading, and which I really like are “Just Walk Across the Room” by Bill Hybels, Jim Bunyan’s “Pilgrim’s Progress”, etc. I would love to get my hands on an iPad2 AND Vyrso!

  13. Dr Ray Borah says

Let me see if I get this. I can, with the Vyrso app, read all my Logos books on my iPad1 – Yes?

If so, what is the cost for the app?

    • Jayson Bradley says

      Dr. Borah,

This is (mostly) correct. There are a few books that we are still working out permission for online reading, but the lion’s share are available to read on the iPad. You can also read them with our Logos Bible Software app.

  14. Can I convert an existing ebook (Let go, let God, Naselli) from Logos to be read on my Kindle? If yes, how?

  15. Looks like a great app to help with Sunday school lesson preparation.
