Introducing Logos 5.1

Logos 5In the first major release since Logos 5, we’re proud to announce several new features and performance improvements for your Logos Bible Software. Here’s a rundown:

Read aloud

Logos 5 now reads aloud in a smooth, professional voice. We have plans to enable many resources with the read-along feature, but we’re starting with our own modern Bible translation, the Lexham English Bible.

Topic layout

Now, when you search for a topic like “baptism” or “marriage,” you’ll launch the all-new topic-search layout, which makes it easier to find what you’re searching for.

Personal Books

Use the powerful Logos search on all your own notes and liturgy with Personal Books, which now supports two new formats: harmony and lectionary. You can find the Personal Books tool and start building your own resources through the Tools menu. Continue Reading…

Save Time on Sermon Prep with Proclaim

proclaim_rgb_400x200_v

Many pastors spend more than half their work week on Sunday sermon preparation, and sometimes that takes away from other important pastoral responsibilities. Saving time on sermon prep can be extremely beneficial.

Here’s how you can save a tremendous amount of time with Proclaim:

Store securely

You invest hours in every message. If you work in a traditional word processor or presentation software, it’s only a matter of time until a lightning storm or hard-drive crash wipes out all your work. Proclaim and Logos 5 eliminate this problem with cloud-based storage. Simply put, the notes you make in Logos 5 and the presentations you build in Proclaim are automatically backed up on our servers. That means that if your computer dies or you switch computers in the middle of preparation (for example, from an office desktop to a notebook at a coffee shop), all your work comes with you.

Collaborate in the cloud

Another benefit of the cloud: it’s easy to work with a team. Delegating responsibilities to others lightens your own load and gives others a sense of ownership. Continue Reading…

Share Sermon Notes and Collaborate Seamlessly in Logos 5

Powerful and elegant, the Notes tool comes with every version of Logos Bible Software. You can write as much as you like, and then connect your notes to a reference or passage. And with our new Publish and Collaborate features, Logos notes are more powerful than ever.

Store in the cloud

Your notes are stored safely in the cloud, so they’re available on all your devices, in all your translations, all the time. That means that if you make a note on your phone in the Faithlife app in the LEB, it’ll be available later in Logos 5 when you’re studying in the NASB. And you can manage all your notes in one place at Documents.Logos.com. Continue Reading…

Last Chance: Get $400 Off Our Top Commentary Series

the-new-international-commentary-on-the-old-and-new-testamentThe New International Commentary of the Old & New Testament, known affectionately as the NICOT/NICNT, has been our top-selling Bible study resource since it went on Pre-Pub in 2009. Many pastors and leaders have benefited from the series’ scholarship, and you can, too. Right now, you can get the NICOT/NICNT for $400 less than the normal price—but you’d better hurry. This deal goes away on May 31. Act fast to get $400 off!

If you were to commission the writing of a scholarly Bible commentary series, sparing no expense, the NIC is what you would get. Many of the collection’s 44 volumes have become classics in their own right.

Christianity Today called one volume in this series, Leon Morris’ commentary on the book of John, “the best commentary on any book of the Bible by an evangelical in recent decades.” The other volumes rise to the same level of excellence. Last summer, we sat down with Joel B. Green, editor of the NICNT. He offered some great insight into all the work that went into this treasured resource.

Our convenient payment plans mean you can get access to this resource right now and pay for it gradually over several months, interest-free. If you’ve been waiting to get this resource, right now is an amazing opportunity to get it on sale.

Help Us Make Logos 5 Globally Accessible

Translate

We would love to make Logos available in every language, but we don’t have the in-house language skills to support more than the Spanish versions we currently offer.

If you’re a bilingual Logos user, we’d like your help in translating our software to your native language.

The plan

Our commitment to you is this: if you and other volunteers translate at least 90% of the software, we’ll publish it. You’ll be able to switch between languages in the program settings. Work on more than 20 languages is already underway; the first ones are German, Dutch, Portuguese, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), Korean, and French.

In addition, we’d like to do complete localization for a handful of languages: translating not only the software itself, but also everything that accompanies it—help files, datasets, web content, and service emails. (Hiring bilingual customer-support staff, too.)

If you’d like to read more about this project, see what Bob Pritchett, our CEO, said in the forums. Continue Reading…
