At the end of February, we introduced RefTagger, a free tool for your website or blog that instantly turns your Bible references into links to the version of your choice at BibleGateway.com and, if you choose, Libronix.
Scores of sites are using RefTagger. If you haven't seen it yet, you can check it out right here on the blog or at any of these sites:

The links that RefTagger creates are very helpful and make it easy for your readers to look up the passages that you cite, but it still takes time to open new web pages. Even careful readers will probably look up only a reference or two.
Problem solved. RefTagger now makes looking up Bible references even easier. Instead of clicking a link to navigate to another web page, now you can immediately see the text of the passage. Simply hovering over any link created by RefTagger will instantly give you a pop-up window containing the text of the passage.
For now we have the New Living Translation and the King James Version available. The NLT is used by default. To use the KJV, you need to choose it as your online Bible version. We hope to add more versions in the near future, so stay tuned.
These new pop-ups are on by default. So if you already had RefTagger on your site, there's nothing you need to do to see them. If you'd like to disable them, you'll need to add the line Logos.ReferenceTagging.lbsUseTooltip = false; to the code. When you customize the code at the RefTagger page, all you have to do is uncheck the box and the code will be created for you automatically.

Those versions you hope to add, will the ESV be included? I'm the creator of the WordPress ESV Plugin but I have stopped using WordPress and haven't done any work on the plugin in a few months. I know people are interested in a plugin like reftagger for WordPress but using ESV. Though my plugin does some things RefTagger does not do (among them, it can add the Bible text inline into posts, and it can modify the posts directly so the text does not have to be retrieved every time someone visits the site), RefTagger is impressive, looks nicer, and has better browser support. Once it supports ESV I will probably retire my plugin and simply point people here.
Now you need a Movable Type version of the plugin for me to use. :)

ESV for me too. I love the RefTagger and installed it as soon as it came out, but its all about the ESV for me these days. I Praise God for such an awesome plugin!!! Keep it up for the Kingdom!!!

Is it possible to design Reftagger code so it applies site (or domain) wide? In other words, instead of putting it on every page of the website, just include it say, on the main page and it will work on all pages within the domain?

RefTagger should work that way for sites designed with a template. For example, in WordPress you only have to add the code in one place. In Movable Type (at least 3.1), you have to add it to your main 4 templates. If a site is just a collection of individual html files, unfortunately you'll have to add the code to each page. You could do a find a replace to make this an easier process.

Cool. I noticed this new feature popping up on my site references a few days ago. I like the improvement!
I know I'm late to the party, but I love this! I just updated our blog/devotion page to include reftagger. I used to manually create links to BibleGateway, but quickly grew tired of it. Now I don't have to even think about it.

This is great! I've done manually on the html code on my blog. Having it enable for Spanish versions would make it even greater. I'll be happy to contribute if you want to work on it.
