In this illuminating guide, Steve Moyise analyzes the quotations from, and allusions to, the Old Testament in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, laying out the scriptural palette Jesus drew from. From there, Moyise examines the views of several major scholars—Borg, Crossan, Dunn, France, Kimball, Vermes, and Wright—showing how different reconstructions of Jesus’ Scripture usage can alter your understanding of his historical significance.

  4. Just downloaded this book. I got it free but it's a great resource nonetheless. Unfortunately many Christians think that the Old Testament because it has the word "old" in it is no longer relevant. Jesus often quoted it, taught it and he came, lived, died and was resurrected according to the scriptures. This was of course the old testament scriptures because the new testament scriptures had not yet been written. They were indeed being written after He ascended but the story was told while he was here. So, read those OT scriptures folks. It will enrich your understanding of the NT.
