Seesmic Desktop Features a Ref.ly Plugin

Ref.lySeesmic Desktop is an all-in-one tool which lets you to update a number of Twitter accounts as well as your Facebook profile at the same time. Many online reviews of Seesmic call it, “Absolutely the best desktop utility.”

Now this dynamic social media manager is offering Ref.ly as a plugin to help you share Scripture more effectively with your followers and friends!

With Ref.ly Bible Verse Links, you can instantly link your Bible verses with short URLs to the full text of the passage at Biblia.com. Seesmic even chose to feature this great new plugin on their blog!

Using this plugin is simple. Type your tweet with the biblical reference, click one button, and Ref.ly Bible Verse Links will detect and change your Bible reference into a short URL that links to the full passage at Biblia.com.

Followers can easily access the Scripture in its entirety by clicking this new link and you still have characters left to share thoughts on the passage.

And don’t worry about abbreviations or if your reference will be detected. Ref.ly Bible Verse Links is smart—smart enough to know whether you’re talking about where you work (your new “job”) or a passage in the book of Job.

Installing the Ref.ly plugin is easy. If you don’t have Seesmic Desktop, just download and install the program. You can find the Ref.ly plugin through Seesmic’s Plugins tab or at their Plugin Marketplace. Simply hit the install button and follow the prompts.

You will find that tweeting your favorite Bible passages has never been easier!

I cannot open Ref.ly to install it as a plugin for Seesmic. What will open a xap file extension?

  2. I am running Win 7 64bit (desktop), it says it is installed but did not. I checked control panel, etc., but no Seesmic. Their website says it is installed, but my registry says it is not.
On their site I seen a lot of comments by those that have Win 7 and they are having a lot of problems. Seems to me that if you are running Win 7 and or 64bit your wasting your time. (I tried a restore but it still says it is installed on my computer.)
To use their help section you have to register and without twitter or Seesmic desktop installed you cannot get help.

  3. (Using Windows 7.) When I installed the ref.ly plugin it does NOTHING. I can twitter with bible scripture using SeesmicDesktop2.
I enter a scripture like Hebrews 1:1 and I press the “more” button. After I press the “more” button, “shorten with twitlonger” comes up. The ref.ly plugin is enabled in my settings, but is not working.
I am doing this in facebook from SeesmicDeskTop2.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks,

  4. You shouldn’t have to find it to install.

    • Install Seesmic
    • Open Seesmic
    • Go to the Ref.ly plugin in the Seesmic Marketplace
    • Click install
    • Follow the prompts and restart Seesmic
    • Click up at the top where it says “Post an update from _____”. In the prompt space you will see “Link”, “Image”, and “More”. Click on the “More” and it will take you to the Ref.ly button.
    • Push that button anytime you include a verse reference.
  5. Hey there,
I am sorry to hear you are having issues. I have Seesmic installed on two Windows 7 64bit machines without an issue. I would contact them. They are great people that would love to help you!
